The Polish-American Internship Initiative is announced annually. Below you will find information on current internship offers.

The application deadline for summer 2019 internships:

– internships at The Broadmoor – March 29, 2019, 4 p.m.

For internships at the Raytheon Company the application deadline was October 10, 2018.

DESCRIPT

For summer 2019 we offer two different internship opportunities: Engineering Intern and Business Intern.
We are ready to welcome 2 students for 12 weeks.

All Internships will be located in Shakopee (a suburb of Minneapolis, Minnesota). Driving licence is recommended.

Engineering Intern Job Description

A person is this position is expected to apply technical training to the design and production of Process Control Instrumentation. This position will work electrical and mechanical engineers to develop high quality products, to define manufacturing processes and analyze data on product performance.

Business Intern Job Description

A person in this position will assist in the development of business plans. He/she must be able to collect and organize information, evaluate business options and to make recommendations based on the market requirements and business development goals.

REQUIREMENTS

for Engineering Intern:
Currently enrolled in Electrical or Mechanical Engingeering degree program. 3rd year or above.

for Business Administration Intern:
Currently enrolled in Businness, Supply Chain or Operations Management degree program. 3rd year or above.

All candidates:

  • must be proficient in English: B-2 level of English is required. Proficient in Polish and English (both written and oral); must be able to read, write and give presentations in English.
  • Students should have at least a 4.0 grade point average (top 20% of their class).
  • In the Summer of 2019, students must have completed 3 years of studies.
  • An international driving license is recommended. Interns will need to find their own transportation to the Shakopee location, but recommendations can be made.
  • Applicants must be able to learn quickly and complete assignments on schedule. They will be expected to collaborate and to work in a team environment.
DATES OF INTERNSHIP

Start date: July 15, 2019
End date: October 4, 2019

COMPENSATION

US$ 720 per week before taxes, US$ 650 per week after taxes

INSURANCE OR OTHER BENEFITS

Each intern will be provided a company issued laptop.
They will also be included in all summer internship activities (usually social activities occur once a month).
They will also be administered a housing stipend for each month. This stipend will not be enough to cover all housing costs.

Accommodation
Interns will be assisted with finding housing for the three months they are in Minnesota.

Transportation
Interns will need to find their own transportation to the Shakopee location, but recommendations can be made.

Orientation sessions and supervision
The interns will go through a formal on-boarding process to explain all the job requirements, company policies and benefits.

Free time
The interns can socialize with employees and other summer interns. The company hires 30 interns from US universities each summer. The company also offers an excellent work environment, on-site cafeteria and an exercise facility. There are also a large number of parks and recreation venues in the Minneapolis area.

 


THE BROADMOOR: 4 PLACEMENTS

DESCRIPT

For summer 2019 we offer internship opportunities for: Groundskeeping and ground operations Intern.
We are ready to welcome 4 students for 12 weeks.

Interns will be located in Colorado Springs, 1 Lake Avenue

Interns will have the opportunity to:

  • learn the duties and challenges of other positions within the Grounds division such as Irrigation Technicians, Groundskeepers, and Color Crew Leaders,
  • understand planting seasons and procedures, leaves/snow removal plans; pruning methods, bulb production, perennial trimming and interior plants growth,
  • learn the specifics for spring greenery and vegetation such as daffodils, and hanging baskets,
  • gain understanding of decor components. Care for 40,000 pansies,
  • learn the specifics for summer greenery and vegetation such as begonias, geraniums, petunias and tulips.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Ideal candidates must be dedicated to the horticulture industry and have strong interest and knowledge of plant composition, propagation and care. Some practical experience is required.
  • Education must be closely related to horticulture. Candidates should study: Horticulture, Crop Science, Landscape Architecture, Turfgrass, Agronomy.
  • In the summer of 2019, students must have completed 2 years of studies.
  • Students should have at least a 4.0 grade point average.
  • Must be fluent in English (B2 level).
  • A driving license is not required.
DATES OF INTERNSHIP

Start possible date: May 1, 2019
End date: September 30, 2019

COMPENSATION

US$ 539 per week before taxes
US$ 420 per week after taxes
$12.24 hourly, $18.51 overtime.

INSURANCE OR OTHER BENEFITS

Housing is provided for the first 25 days of the program.
Company will assist the intern to find suitable housing for the rest of their stay.

$160 a month will be deducted from intern\’s wages towards the sponsoring organization – The Ohio State University.

Company offers various classes and courses to all staff via Broadmoor University.

Orientation sessions and supervision
Orientation session at The Ohio State University is required.

RAYTHEON: 6-8 PLACEMENTS

Supply Chain Intern Job Description

As a Supply Chain Intern, your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:

  • Establish collaborative working relationships with supplier partners.
  • Participate in rotations throughout GSCM i.e. Material Program Management (MPM), Logistics, Planning, Procurement
  • Provide insight and recommendations for process improvements.
  • Exposure and use of advanced information systems and technologies in a multinational Department of Defense (DoD) environment.
  • Interface and exposure to Raytheon Leadership.
  • Attend Six Sigma training, successfully execute a project, and become Six Sigma Specialist qualified.
Mission Assurance Intern Job Description

As a Mission Assurance Intern your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:

  • Engage with Raytheon IDS supplier partners to insure technical and quality requirements are understood, translated into process execution, and verified prior to shipment.
  • Support supplier quality hardware acceptance execution.
  • Work with suppliers to determine root cause of defects and implement corrective actions.
  • Work with suppliers to analyze performance trends and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Attend Six Sigma training, successfully execute a project, and become Six Sigma Specialist qualified
  • Develop a Program and Subcontractor Quality Plan ensuring ongoing quality support and surveillance.
  • Provide support for on-site problem resolution, including monitoring subcontractor\’s quality performance, and engaging in proactive improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with other Raytheon Quality functions and Cross Business Teams to affect rapid closure of issues utilizing analytical capabilities and communications skills.
  • On-site quality support and surveillance including performing Supplier Assessments, Purchase Order Flow down Reviews, First Article Inspection acceptance, assuring compliance to Quality Notes and Special Process requirements, in-process inspections and final Raytheon product acceptance.
  • Subcontractor performance review, including an independent assessment of progress-to-date, cost and schedule performance, and work product quality.
REQUIREMENTS

The successful candidates for the above positions will possess the following:

  • Completed, at minimum, 60 hours of college credit towards their degree as of the summer 2019.
  • must have completed at least their Sophmore year at University

for Mechanical Engineering Intern:
Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program with an emphasis in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace, Computer Science or Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics or related technical field.

for Supply Chain Intern:
Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program with an emphasis in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Operations, Business Management or a related field.

for Mission Assurance Intern:
Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program with an emphasis in Engineering, Quality/Reliability, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management/Logistics.

All candidates:

  • must be proficient in English –C-1 level of English is required. Proficient in Polish and English (both written and oral); must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of management via email, telephone, and in person.
  • Students should have at least a 4.0 grade point average.
  • International Drivers License is required; Note: Minimum age to rent a car in the USA is 21 (credit car is also required for rental).
  • A valid passport is required. Passports should not expire before March 31, 2020 to ensure student is able to obtain proper work authorization and licensing.

In addition to the above mentioned requirements, the successful candidate for this position will possess the following:

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office toolset (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Ability to work in collaborative, team environment.
  • Strong organization skills with ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Self-motivated and results oriented.
  • Perform tasks with general direction/oversight.

Direct Supply Chain, Quality, and/or Mechanical Engineering work experience is a plus (depending on Internship).

Interns will receive compensation of US$ 20 per hour before taxes.

On the first day of work, Raytheon Interns attend an orientation session which includes badging (your picture will be taken upon arrival), a continental breakfast where you can network and meet with other new hires, a detailed company overview, and review of company benefits and programs. During orientation, Interns also receive a new hire package and checklist which includes required tasks and trainings to complete the first week, and important information about your work group.

Throughout the summer, Interns will be invited to join and participate in various Raytheon events.
