We kindly inform that after a two-year break due to the coronavirus pandemic, Educational Enterprise Foundation re-launches the Polish-American Internship Initiative and invites Program Partners to submit their internship offers for the summer of 2023.

PLANTING FIELDS ARBORETUM STATE HISTORIC PARK

Planting Fields Arboretum State Historic Park is a spectacular 409-acre public garden located on the north shore of Long Island. This former Gold Coast estate features specimen trees, ornamental shrubs, herbaceous plantings, 2 1/2 acres of display and production greenhouses, historic buildings and a 65 room Tudor revival mansion. The arboretum features one of the most comprehensive woody plant collections in the Northeast.
The internship is organized under The Ohio Program at The Ohio State University, that provides quality internships in the USA to students of Horticulture, Agriculture and Turfgrass science. The program promises individual approach to applicants, careful selection of participants and hosting companies and safe, monitored experience.
DESCRIPT
For summer 2020 we offer internship opportunities in Public Park. We are ready to welcome 2 students for 12 weeks.
Interns will be located in Oyster Bay, NY
Interns will assist permanent horticulture staff in the many aspects of design, installation and maintenance of landscapes.
REQUIREMENTS
- Ideal candidates should study: Horticulture, Crop Science, Landscape Architecture, Turfgrass, Agronomy;
- In the summer of 2020, students must have completed 2 years of studies;
- Students should have at least a 3.8 grade point average;
- Posess good conversational skills in English;
- Must be dedicated to the horticulture industry and have strong interest and knowledge of plant composition, propagation and care;
- A driving license is not required.
DATES OF INTERNSHIP
Start possible date: May 1, 2020
End date: September 30, 2020
COMPENSTAION
US$ 400 per week after taxes
$160 a month will be deducted from intern\’s wages towards the sponsoring organization – The Ohio State University.

Free time: near weekly field trips to complement practical training, periodic in service training will be provided for trainees.

DESCRIPT
For summer 2020 we offer internship opportunities for: Groundskeeping and ground operations Intern.
We are ready to welcome 4 students for 12 weeks.
Interns will be located in Colorado Springs, 1 Lake Avenue
Interns will have the opportunity to:
- learn the duties and challenges of other positions within the Grounds division such as Irrigation Technicians, Groundskeepers, and Color Crew Leaders,
- understand planting seasons and procedures, leaves/snow removal plans; pruning methods, bulb production, perennial trimming and interior plants growth,
- learn the specifics for spring greenery and vegetation such as daffodils, and hanging baskets,
- gain understanding of decor components. Care for 40,000 pansies,
- learn the specifics for summer greenery and vegetation such as begonias, geraniums, petunias and tulips.
REQUIREMENTS
- Ideal candidates must be dedicated to the horticulture industry and have strong interest and knowledge of plant composition, propagation and care. Some practical experience is required.
- Education must be closely related to horticulture. Candidates should study: Horticulture, Crop Science, Landscape Architecture, Turfgrass, Agronomy.
- In the summer of 2020, students must have completed 2 years of studies.
- Students should have at least a 3.8 grade point average.
- good conversational skills.
- A driving license is not required.

COMPENSATION
US$ 539 per week before taxes
US$ 420 per week after taxes
$12.24 hourly, $18.51 overtime.
$160 a month will be deducted from intern\’s wages towards the sponsoring organization – The Ohio State University.
Accommodation
Housing is provided for the first 25 days of the program.
Company will assist the intern to find suitable housing for the rest of their stay.

Orientation at Broadmoor will take place within a week of the intern arriving.
